Behind BornVilja —
Rebecka Vilja Karlsborn
Rebecka creates patterns, paintings, and prose as fragments of a larger atlas—a humbling attempt to trace the invisible structures beneath reality. Her work is shaped by a deep interest in mythology, philosophy, and biology, expressed through symbolic visual language.
Drawing from figures such as Hilma af Klint, Kay Nielsen, Josef Frank, Neri Oxman, and William Blake, her work flows between the microscopic and the cosmic, between cultural impressions and her own imaginative visions.
Patterns
The surface patterns BornVilja offers are shaped by botanical forms, symbolic references, and a strong sense of visual rhythm. All patterns are created from a place of love for life in all of its forms.
Paintings
A series of plywood paintings is being prepared to enter the store—pieces that will be available in early summer. These artworks draw from Rebecka's inner world, bringing you a sense of the mythical into everyday life.
Collaborations
BornVilja primarily seeks collaborations with companies producing wallpaper, interior textiles and other surface-based products.
The practice is also open to selected collaborations within furnishings, painted objects and spatial projects.
What matters most is alignment: a clear visual direction, respect for material and atmosphere, and a shared understanding of what the project is meant to achieve.
Looking Ahead
The ambition is to expand BornVilja into a universe of patterns, paintings, music and stories. The music and storytelling are still in the works and will unfold over time.
Even now, every piece created—whether a pattern inspired by botanical forms or a painting hinting at humanity's future among the stars—is part of that larger vision.
